FOCUS Broadband’s Keith Holden Honored in Business North Carolina’s 2022 Power List

Shallotte, NC – FOCUS Broadband’s CEO, Keith Holden, was recently selected as in influential leader in Business North Carolina’s 2022 Power List. The publication selects leaders from across the state that have made a particularly noteworthy impact within the last year in their industry. Holden was recognized in the category of media and communications.

Holden has been with FOCUS Broadband (formerly ATMC) since 1998. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and his master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He was promoted to CEO in 2018 and has led the company ever since.

Holden’s recognition can be attributed to his role in FOCUS Broadband’s expansion to different counties around southeastern North Carolina and to continual improvements in the cooperative’s traditional service area. Under his leadership, the company has been able to secure more than $45 million dollars in state and federal broadband grants that is allowing FOCUS Broadband to bring high-speed internet to unserved rural areas of Brunswick, Columbus, Robeson, Pender and Duplin counties. FOCUS Broadband also began a $100 million-dollar, multi-year project to replace all of its copper and coaxial cable network in its Brunswick County service area with a new 100% fiber optic network. These advancements will lead to a better-connected future for residents living in rural areas of southeast North Carolina.

“There’s a bias toward leaders in the big metropolitan areas, where most economic activity occurs. Great rural leaders often get overlooked,” commented David Mildenburg, Business North Carolina’s Editor. FOCUS Broadband is grateful for Holden’s leadership to the company and commitment to improving rural North Carolina.
