FOCUS Broadband Makes High-Speed Internet Service Available to First Customers in Rural Scotland County
Scotland County, NC – FOCUS Broadband has announced that high-speed internet service is now available in the first phase of its Scotland County broadband project. Residents and businesses outside of Wagram near Spring Hill Road and Old Wire Road can now sign up to get broadband service with speeds up to 5Gig.

With support from a $24.6 million grant awarded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) ReConnect Program, FOCUS Broadband is building a 100% fiber optic network to bring high-speed internet to rural areas of Robeson and Scotland counties. The project will expand access to approximately 4,800 addresses and will have the capacity to serve more than 13,000 people, nearly 200 businesses, 166 farms, and 18 public schools across both counties, as well as serve parts of the Lumbee state-designated tribal area.
This marks the first of several phases in Scotland County where FOCUS Broadband will begin offering high-speed internet service. Construction is currently underway in the Deercroft area and along portions of Aberdeen Road to Silver Hill Road. Meanwhile, FOCUS Broadband is finalizing engineering designs for upcoming phases and working to secure the necessary permits for construction.
With 70 years of serving rural communities, FOCUS Broadband has established itself as a leader in broadband expansion across eastern North Carolina. Since 2019, the company has secured more than $120 million in state and federal broadband funding, extending high-speed internet access to over 22,000 homes and businesses in Brunswick, Columbus, Robeson, Pender, Duplin, Bladen, Scotland, Hoke, Chowan and Perquimans counties.
