FOCUS Broadband Makes Gigabit Internet Speeds Available for Thousands of Customers
Shallotte, NC – FOCUS Broadband recently announced that it has made gigabit internet speeds available for thousands of Brunswick County cooperative members currently being served by a cable modem (DOCSIS) network in Seaside, Calabash and the inland areas of Holden Beach. Gigabit service for other areas near Shallotte, Supply and Bolivia will be available later this fall.
“Connectivity is increasingly important for our customers and our community,” said Keith Holden, FOCUS Broadband CEO. “Because we want our customers to have access to fast and reliable internet, we continue to make network investments which allow us to increase broadband speeds while improving and expanding our service area.”
This recent upgrade is part of the cooperative’s multi-year, $100 million dollar project, aimed at improving services and bringing faster speeds to customers throughout Brunswick County. The project’s ultimate goal is to serve every cooperative member with fiber optics.
More than 99% of FOCUS Broadband customers currently have access to broadband speeds that exceed 600 Mbps, even in the cooperative’s most rural areas of Brunswick County. Previous upgrade efforts have allowed the cooperative to replace older network facilities serving St. James, Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach and the Shallotte Business District with newer fiber optic technology, and work is currently underway to deploy fiber optics in the southern end of Brunswick County near Seaside and Carolina Shores. In addition to these cooperative areas, FOCUS Broadband has also expanded to bring fiber optics to other Brunswick County communities such as Caswell Beach, Oak Island, and Leland.
FOCUS Broadband customers living in Seaside, Holden Beach and Calabash that want to take advantage of the new, Gigabit broadband speeds, as well as new 250 Mbps and 500 Mbps options, are encouraged to contact FOCUS Broadband at 910-754-4311 or visit www.focusbroadband.com for more information.
